1. What is Lacrosse 6’s?

Lacrosse 6’s is the fast-paced, high-energy version of the sport that’s now the official Olympic format. It’s played 6-on-6 on a smaller field with continuous action — think basketball or hockey speed, but with lacrosse sticks.

2. Why do the Parkland Redhawks Play 6’s?

We want our players to touch the ball more, play faster, and have more fun. In 6’s, every player is constantly involved — no standing around waiting for the ball. It builds skills faster, keeps kids engaged, and aligns with the direction lacrosse is headed worldwide.

3. Who can play?

Everyone!

  • New players (ages 5–14): No experience required. We’ll teach the fundamentals in a fun, welcoming environment.

  • Experienced players (ages 7–14): A chance to play free-flowing lacrosse that’s different from club play — faster, creative, and all offense and defense.

4. What does “in-house model” mean?

It means all practices and games are played right here in Parkland. Families won’t have to drive long distances for weekend games. Everything stays local, making it easy, convenient, and community-driven.

5. When does the season start?

The 2025 Redhawks season begins the third week of January and runs through early April.

6. What is included in registration?

Each player receives:

  • A PLL-designed uniform (jersey and shorts)

  • League play with weekly games and practices

  • Player insurance and registration through the PLL Play platform

  • Coaching, skill development, and end-of-season playoffs and championship games

7. What does it cost to register?

Registration is $299 per player before December 1st, which includes your uniform, all practices, and games.  After December 1st, the price goes up to $349.  U6 will cost only $99 for the season.

In addition to the fee, all members will be required to have a USA Lacrosse Membership which includes insurance for any injury that would occur while playing. The annual fee is currently $35.

8. What is the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), and how are they involved?

The PLL is the top professional lacrosse league in the world. The Redhawks were chosen by the PLL as their official South Florida alliance to expand their PLL Play youth initiative.

They provide uniforms, website scheduling, marketing support, and visibility — connecting our players to the broader world of lacrosse.

9. What are the benefits for families?

  • Shorter commitments: Local games during the week — fewer weekend travel obligations.

  • Community focus: All games in Parkland, more family time, and a strong local atmosphere.

  • Fun, competitive environment: Standings, playoffs, and a championship just like other Parkland sports.

  • Skill growth: More touches and faster development for every child.

10. Are there opportunities to try it before signing up?

Yes! We’re hosting four Free Clinics for the 2026 season where kids can grab a stick, join the fun, and see what 6’s is all about:

  • October 19th – 9:00–10:00 AM

  • November 24th – 6:00 PM

  • December 14th – 5:30 PM

  • January 11th – 5:00 PM

No registration required — just show up, and we’ll have sticks and equipment ready.

In addition, we will be hosting 6's Nights for experienced players who want to just come and try the discipline!

11.  What are the age groups?

There will be boys’ and girls’ divisions and the age groups will be U6 (Sticks Only, no pads or playoffs), U8, U10, U12 and U14.  The age cutoffs for each will be September 1st.

12. Is this replacing traditional 10v10 or 12v12 lacrosse?

Yes, for the Redhawks program. We’re fully embracing the 6’s format this recreational season. We believe it gives kids the best balance of skill development, fun, and accessibility.  Athletes who play travel club lacrosse, can work on skills they do not have time for during their typical travel season.

13. Can players still play club lacrosse?

Absolutely. 6’s complements club lacrosse — it’s a faster, creative format that helps players improve without the pressure of tournament travel.

14. Does my child need to attend an Evaluation?

Yes.  In order to create an even playing field among teams, every athlete will need to attend the evals.  The date will be announced to everyone who is registered.

15. Am I able to Coach?

Definitely!  With more teams, the need for more parent involvement will be crucial.  Even if you have no experience with lacrosse, we have coaching clinics to bring you up to speed.

16. What Equipment Will My Child Need?

Boys: Helmet, Shoulder pads, Arm pads, Gloves, Protective Cup, Mouth guard, & Stick.
Girls: Goggles, Mouth guard, & Stick

*Football, Soccer,  and/or Lacrosse Cleats are recommended for all divisions.
